In 1975 numbers 2 and 4 Kirk Rd. Carmunnock won a prestigious Civic Trust Award. This is a British awards scheme which recognises outstanding architecture, planning and design in the built environment. Around this time in the mid 70's awareness our historic buildings in the UK was increasing as many had fallen into a delapidated state. Nationwide there was a push to save thousands of historic buildings from destruction. Next time you are passing look out for the carved panel above the window. of No. 4.
